Cocktails for Cuba – an evening for a good cause

Sämi Merkli preparing a cocktail

On June 19th, Ready to Sip got to be part of a very special evening: Cocktails for Cuba, a charity event at Pascal's home in Zurich – with a clear goal: raising support for Agustin and his family in Cuba.

Between warm lighting and good music, I ran a small cocktail workshop – from proper shaking technique to a clean strain, always with an eye on the details that make a great drink.

Alongside that there was an open mic, with guests bringing guitars and voices to set the mood, and of course plenty of good vibes. Alcoholic or not – there was something for every taste.

In the end, it wasn't just about the drink in the glass, but the cause behind it: an evening that shows how much good can come from bringing people together over a cocktail.

Thank you to Pascal for opening up his home, to every guest for joining in – and to everyone who supported Agustin and his family. These are exactly the moments that remind me why I love what I do with Ready to Sip. 🥂

What does a bartender cost for an evening in Zurich?

Reading time approx. 3 minutes · Book a bartender Zurich · Mobile bar pricing

One of the most common questions I get: "What does this actually cost?" The answer is – as usual – it depends. But I want to be as transparent as possible here, so you know exactly what you're getting into.

The factors that determine the price

The price of a mobile bar depends on several factors: number of guests, duration of the event, number of cocktails on the menu, whether drinks are included, and how far the travel distance is.

My packages start at CHF 500 for up to 30 guests and 3 hours of service. That includes professional bartending, bar setup, ice and 3–4 cocktails of your choice.

What's typically included?

Drinks (spirits, mixers) can be included on request or arranged separately – whatever suits you best.

Comparison with other providers in Zurich

By comparison, most professional mobile bar providers in Switzerland start at CHF 700–900 for an entry-level package. As a freelancer without large overhead costs, I can offer more attractive pricing without compromising on quality.

My tip

Always ask for a tailored quote. Every event is different – sometimes a flat rate works better, sometimes a consumption-based model (guests pay directly). I adapt to your budget.

The 5 best cocktails for a summer garden party

Reading time approx. 3 minutes · Garden party cocktails · Summer drinks Zurich

Garden parties are my favourite events. The atmosphere, the evening air, the lights – and the right cocktails to go with them. Here are my top 5 that shouldn't be missing at any summer party.

1. Spicy Mezcal Paloma

Mezcal, grapefruit, lime, agave, chili and soda – smoky, fresh, with a little kick. This cocktail is polarising, and that's exactly what makes it memorable. Perfect for guests who want something special.

2. Cucumber Gimlet

Gin, cucumber, lime and vegan foam – light, elegant and visually a highlight. The creamy foam on top looks fantastic, and the cucumber flavour is refreshing on a warm summer evening.

3. Moscow Mule

The classic for everyone. Vodka, lime, agave and ginger beer. Sharp, fresh, simply good. Everyone knows it, everyone likes it – a safe bet for a mixed crowd.

4. Zero Passion Sour (non-alcoholic)

Passion fruit, lime, agave and vegan foam – the non-alcoholic star of any party. Looks like a real sour, tastes fantastic and is suitable for everyone. Pregnant guests, drivers, kids – everyone gets something great in their glass.

5. Frozen Blueberry Daiquiri

Rum, fresh blueberries, lime, agave and crushed ice. When summer gets hot, a frozen drink is the best thing you can give your guests. A visual wow-moment too.

Pro tip: always offer at least one non-alcoholic option. The gratitude from guests who don't drink is huge – and the quality of the mocktail shows your class as a host.

Mobile bar for your wedding – what you need to know

Reading time approx. 4 minutes · Wedding bartender Zurich · Mobile bar wedding

A wedding is the biggest day in many people's lives – and the bar is often the heart of the evening. Here's everything couples should know when booking a mobile bar.

When to book?

As early as possible. I recommend enquiring at least 2–3 months in advance, and even earlier in summer. Good bartenders get booked up – don't wait until a month before.

What belongs on a good wedding cocktail menu?

Cocktail hour vs. night bar

Many couples book me for two slots: the cocktail hour before dinner and the night bar afterwards. That's a very popular combination. But you can also book just one slot – depending on budget and concept.

Drinks included or not?

For weddings I recommend an all-inclusive model – you pay a fixed price and your guests can help themselves freely without wondering "what does this cost now?" That creates a relaxed atmosphere for everyone.

My Premium package from CHF 1,400 for up to 100 guests includes a tailored cocktail menu, 5+ hours of service and everything that goes with it – ideal for weddings.

Setup and logistics

I need about 45–60 minutes for setup. A power outlet nearby is helpful. A water connection is optional. I bring everything I need – you don't have to prepare anything.
